Wonderful symbolic earrings with Celtic Selkie beads I created from polymer clay. I rarely ever use molds for my polymer clay beads, but these I did create from a mold I created. Along with the Polymer Clay Selkies are Sterling Silver wireworked links of Lapis and Cultured Freshwater Pearls, and faceted Czech Glass Beads, with Sterling Silver beads and bead caps and they dangle from hand-crafted Sterling Silver Ear Wires I created from 20 gauge wire and hand-hammered for texture and ease of wearing. Great symbolic jewelry!

Selkie - According to Celtic legend, the Selkie is a seal-like shape-shifting creature, that can remove her skin and is then able to walk upon dry land. They are even said to live on land as human women and to even bare offspring. Eventually, as many of the legends go, the call of the sea is too strong and causes them to revert back to their seal skins and to return to the open waters of the life giving sea. Many incredible stories and legends of this extremely shy and rarely seen member of the Fey family abound in Ireland and some of the old Irish families even had Selkies in their genealogy!
CELTIC KNOTS-The intricate weave and flow of Celtic Knotwork is thought to symbolize the flow of the life force through the cosmos, and represent the endless cycle of life; the infinity of birth, death and rebirth. The ancient Celts were renowned for their metal working, with their beautiful knotworking and the gorgeous designs that they created with them. Silver is a wonderful metal for use with gemstones, it can take on and absorb the properties and energies of the gemstones it is in contact with and act as a conductor for those energies for the wearer. Silver is associated with the element of Water and directly correlates with the energies of the Goddess and the moon. It is also a metal to aid in drawing prosperity.
