Unicorn - The unicorn is a legendary animal. It is usually portrayed as a sleek, white horse with a spiraled horn on its forehead, although the way it appears and behaves differs, depending on it's location. In the west it was generally wild and untamable, while to the east in the Orient it was peaceful, shy and thought to be the bearer of good luck. There it is usually described as an animal that closely resembled a goat, having cloven hooves and a beard. In Japan it is referred to as Kirin, and in China Ki-lin. The name is most likely based on the Hebrew word re'em, where in early translations of the Bible's Old Testament translates as "monokeros", meaning "one horn", and that eventually became "unicorn" in English.
