I created these beautiful Victorian Styled earrings with a byzantine variation chain maille weave, with one of my hand-crafted polymer clay Rose Art Beads as the center piece, and dangles with Swarovski Austrian Crystal, Czech Glass Leaf beads and faceted Glass Briolettes. The chain maille rings are all polished Bright Aluminum, the wire used for the dangles is Sterling Silver and the Ear Wires are hand-formed and hammered ear wires I created from 20 gauge Sterlng Silver wire.
Bright Aluminum is as shiny as Sterling Silver, but doesn't tarnish, and is VERY lightweight. And it is also MUCH more affordable!!!

Roses have meant many things in folk lore. Often associated with Aphrodite, and love. The different colors of roses are said to mean different things, but the most familiar of course is red roses with love and passion. The story goes that Aphrodite pricked her finger on a thorn and her blood turned the flower red, and has since been associated with love and passion, both the color and the flower. Regardless, they are quite beautiful, and who doesn't love their fragrance? And EVERYONE should learn to "stop and smell the roses" from time to time! Silver is a wonderful metal for use with gemstones, it can take on and absorb the properties and energies of the gemstones it is in contact with and act as a conductor for those energies for the wearer. Silver is associated with the element of Water and directly correlates with the energies of the Goddess and the moon. It is also a metal to aid in drawing prosperity. To increase the properties and energies of silver, expose it to the light of the moon, especially the full moon.
